The Welch residence is a multi-level structure located in a Hill Country setting in west Austin. The residence is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac and hidden below street level among oak and cedar trees.

It was designed to blend with the surroundings while showcasing large structural elements including concrete cantilevered decks, large roof trusses and angled steel bracing. The exterior of the house features sweeping arches and long roof overhangs that give the house an open feel from indoors.
